The Pure Energy of Childhood

In early childhood, a human being operates from a common, innocent energy—an energy that is neither distinctly masculine nor feminine. It is the same pure vitality seen in young animals. If you look into the eyes of a small child, you may find it difficult to distinguish whether the child is a boy or a girl. This is because the masculine or feminine energy hasn’t yet emerged as a dominant trait.

The Awakening of Masculine Traits at Puberty

As the child grows and reaches puberty, masculine energy begins to assert itself more strongly in a male body. This is marked by physical, emotional, and behavioral changes typically associated with becoming a man. A teenager’s transformation into adulthood brings with it the awakening of deeper masculine traits that shape how he operates in the world.

Masculine Energy Across the Stages of Life

Let’s take an ideal journey: a boy is born into a stable environment, receives proper education, and grows up to be a responsible man. In his teenage years, he excels academically. He graduates from college, perhaps even completes post-graduate or doctoral studies. By the age of 25 to 35, he begins to experience the peak of his masculine potential.

This stage demands that he confront the challenges of the world with his masculine energy—especially through work, competition, and interaction with other men. The dance of masculine and feminine energies continues, but here, masculine energy drives external functioning, ambition, and contribution.

Core Traits of Masculine Energy

Masculine energy is characterized by two paradoxical yet complementary qualities: extroversion and seclusion.

• Extroversion refers to the natural tendency to act, create, build, express, and influence the external world.
• Seclusion manifests as a deep inward focus, often seen in the form of solitude, meditation, and retreat for the sake of inner discovery.

When a man seeks solitude, when he feels the urge to sit in silence and explore his depths, the element of Shiva—the great meditator—awakens within him.

But Shiva does not remain in meditation forever. Masculine energy, once it discovers truth within, naturally seeks to express it. A man feels complete only when he can give, share, or create something meaningful from that inner discovery.

The Drive to Create and Contribute

This outward movement after inward realization is the hallmark of masculine evolution. The inventions, technologies, systems, and spiritual wisdoms throughout history are not coincidences—they are manifestations of this very process.

The desire to give, to offer something of value to the world, lies at the heart of masculine energy. Whether it is the steam engine, electricity, the airplane, or the internet—these are all extensions of male consciousness expressing itself after deep focus and inquiry.

The Fulfillment of the Masculine Being

Masculine energy finds joy in abundance, not for personal indulgence, but for the opportunity to facilitate the well-being of others. Observe this in your own life. When you work hard, earn money, and use that money to uplift your family—when do you feel your deepest joy? It is not when you spend on yourself, but when your contribution creates happiness for those you love.

Even among modern billionaires like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, this energy is visible—they are not just hoarding wealth, but sharing knowledge, funding transformation, and impacting lives. This is not driven by selflessness alone—it is the masculine principle in action.

Technology, Innovation, and Shiva’s Expression

The very camera recording these teachings, the microphone transmitting sound, the phone or computer you are using—each is a manifestation of masculine invention. They are the byproducts of inquiry, discipline, and the desire to serve.

This masculine urge is not limited to monks or ascetics. You need not renounce the world. You can embody Shiva while being rooted in daily life. You can discover your deepest traits and express them through practical work, business, art, leadership, or mentorship.
