The Greatest Misery on Earth Is When Your Life Force Stops Moving

The Greatest Misery Begins When Life Stops Pulling You Forward

The greatest misery on Earth is not poverty. It is not failure, rejection, or even pain.

The greatest misery begins when nothing in life produces enough movement inside you to make you want to live it. You wake up, but there is nothing you want to wake up for.

Food is available, but there is no excitement. People are around you, but there is no desire to meet them.

You have time, but nothing feels worth doing. You have opportunities, but there is no urge to pursue them.

Tomorrow is coming, but there is nothing in tomorrow that pulls you toward it.

Kundalini Is the Movement of Life

Kundalini is traditionally described as dormant spiritual energy residing at the base of the spine. But I want you to understand it more fundamentally.

Kundalini is your life force, and the nature of life force is movement.

Look at a child. A healthy child naturally wants to run, touch, taste, explore, play, discover, and experience.

Nobody has to teach a child to be interested in life. Life itself is pulling the child forward.

Life Force Takes Different Forms as You Grow

As you grow, the same fundamental force begins expressing itself through different dimensions of your life. The objects change, but the movement underneath them remains.

  • Sexual desire
  • Love
  • Curiosity
  • Ambition
  • Creativity
  • Adventure
  • Achievement
  • Relationships
  • Business
  • Purpose
  • Exploration
  • Contribution

Underneath all these expressions is one fundamental movement: life wants to experience more life. That movement is what I call the expression of your life force.

Dopamine Gives This Movement a Biological Language

Now look at the same phenomenon through the brain. Dopamine is frequently called the pleasure chemical, but that description is incomplete.

Dopamine is strongly involved in motivation, reward anticipation, reinforcement learning, effort, and goal-directed behaviour. It is particularly important in the process of wanting.

Dopamine Is Deeply Connected With Wanting

Something becomes significant. Your attention moves toward it, you anticipate it, you become willing to make an effort for it, and then you pursue it.

This is why I see an important connection between dopamine and life force. Kundalini describes movement through the language of life, energy, and consciousness, while dopamine helps us understand part of the biological machinery through which motivation and pursuit occur.

I am not saying that Kundalini is dopamine. I am saying that life force ultimately has to express itself through a biological human organism.

Your consciousness does not live separately from your brain, body, and nervous system. When you intensely want something, your whole organism participates.

Then Comes the Dark Night of the Soul

Now we arrive at something fascinating. What happens when the things that previously produced desire suddenly stop working?

  • The career you desperately wanted no longer excites you.
  • Money does not produce the same pull.
  • Recognition feels empty.
  • Relationships that once defined you begin losing their meaning.
  • Your previous ambitions collapse.
  • Entertainment feels meaningless.
  • The identity you spent decades constructing suddenly does not feel like you.

And yet, you do not know what should replace it. This is where the Dark Night of the Soul can begin.

The old world has stopped generating movement, but the new world has not yet appeared. You are alive, but you cannot feel where life wants to take you.

The Dark Night Is a Crisis of Wanting

This is how I understand one of the most painful dimensions of the Dark Night: you lose your old reasons for wanting before discovering your new reasons for living.

Think about how profound that is. For years, your motivational and reward systems may have been organized around particular desires.

  • I want this person.
  • I want this position.
  • I want this amount of money.
  • I want people to respect me.
  • I want this house.
  • I want to become somebody.

Then transformation begins, and suddenly you realize: I do not want it anymore.

Initially, this may sound like spiritual detachment. But when almost everything loses its motivational significance, the experience can become frightening.

The question becomes: if I do not want my old life, what do I want? And sometimes there is silence.

That silence is where enormous suffering can occur.

Kundalini Can Destroy an Old Direction Before Revealing a New One

A genuine inner transformation does not necessarily preserve the personality you constructed before it. Your priorities, relationships, ambitions, sexuality, work, and even your understanding of yourself can change.

The life force that was previously flowing into one identity may no longer want to sustain it. This is why some people undergoing profound spiritual transformation report feeling as though their previous life has died while they are still physically alive.

The old motivational structure has collapsed. But do not mistake the collapse of an old direction for the death of life force itself.

Something may be reorganizing. Eventually, the most important question becomes: where does your Kundalini want to move now?

Your Dopamine Must Find Life Again

This is where spiritual transformation must eventually return to embodiment. You cannot spend your entire existence analyzing energy.

You cannot spend twenty years asking where your Kundalini is. You cannot endlessly chase extraordinary spiritual experiences while becoming increasingly disconnected from actual life.

  • Visions
  • Kriyas
  • Vibrations
  • Synchronicities
  • Altered states
  • Extraordinary energetic experiences

At some point, your awakened energy must find something worth living for.

Life Force Must Find a New Direction

Maybe you suddenly want to create. Maybe you want to travel, experience intimacy again, or build something entirely new.

Maybe you discover a different career. Maybe you want to serve, or sexuality returns with tremendous intensity.

Maybe creativity explodes. Maybe you want to experience your body more deeply, or you discover a purpose that did not exist within your previous identity.

Then something remarkable happens. Wanting returns, anticipation returns, and movement returns.

Life begins acquiring colour again, and your biology begins participating in your new direction.

This Is Where Kundalini and Dopamine Meet

This is my central understanding. Kundalini provides the life force, dopamine participates in giving that force motivational direction through the biological reward system, and the Dark Night can become the terrifying interval in which the old direction has disappeared while the new direction has not yet become clear.

  • Kundalini provides the life force.
  • Dopamine participates in motivation, anticipation, and pursuit.
  • The Dark Night can represent the interval between an old motivational world and a new one.

These are not three names for the same biological mechanism. They belong to different explanatory traditions.

But inside a living human being, spiritual experience, brain, nervous system, body, motivation, and behaviour do not live in separate rooms. They are experienced by one organism: you.

Therefore, your awakening ultimately has to become embodied.

The Purpose of Kundalini Is Not to Make You Less Alive

This is extremely important. I do not measure awakening by how disconnected you become from ordinary existence.

I ask whether your awakening is increasing your capacity to live.

  • Are you becoming more alive?
  • Can you love more intensely?
  • Can you create?
  • Can you work?
  • Can you experience your sexuality without shame?
  • Can you take risks?
  • Can you explore?
  • Can you tolerate uncertainty?
  • Can you experience pleasure?
  • Can you pursue meaningful goals?
  • Can you contribute?
  • Can you allow your energy to move through the world?

If awakening only makes you withdraw from life, I would question what is happening. Kundalini is the life force, and life force should ultimately increase your capacity to live.

The Way Out of the Dark Night Is Not Backward

When your old life stops producing desire, the answer is not necessarily to force yourself to want the old things again. Listen more carefully.

What wants to emerge now? Maybe your life force has outgrown its previous destination.

The misery comes when you remain suspended between two worlds. You cannot return to what you were, but you have not yet started moving toward what you are becoming.

This is why the Dark Night can feel endless.

The Breakthrough Begins When Life Finds a New Object of Movement

The breakthrough begins when your life force discovers somewhere new to move. Something appears and suddenly your organism responds.

  • A person
  • A purpose
  • A creation
  • A journey
  • A challenge
  • A mission
  • A new environment
  • A new expression of sexuality
  • A new way of contributing

Then something inside you says: I WANT THAT.

Do not underestimate those words. They mean life has started moving again.

The Greatest Misery Is No Movement

This is why I say that the greatest misery on Earth is when nothing produces movement toward life anymore. There is no wanting, no anticipation, no curiosity, no excitement, no purpose, and no desire to discover tomorrow.

This is also why I do not define spiritual evolution as the destruction of all desire. There is an enormous difference between being enslaved by compulsive desire and being a living organism capable of wanting life.

Your old desires may die. Let them.

Your old identity may collapse. Let it transform.

Your old sources of reward may become meaningless. Observe them.

But then ask: where does my life force want to go now?

When Life Starts Calling You Again

The completion of the Dark Night is not merely understanding darkness. It is when life begins calling you again.

Your Kundalini finds direction. Your brain begins anticipating, your body wants movement, your eyes become curious, your sexuality becomes alive, and your creativity wants expression.

Your future starts pulling you.

And one morning, you realize: I want something again.

That is not a small event. That is life returning to movement.

Signs That Life Force Is Moving Again

  • You want to get out of bed and do something.
  • Something in the future excites you.
  • Your body wants movement and experience.
  • Your curiosity begins returning.
  • You feel attracted toward people, places, ideas, or possibilities.
  • Creativity begins demanding expression.
  • Sexuality or intimacy begins feeling alive again.
  • You want to build, explore, work, contribute, or create.
  • You begin making plans again.
  • Tomorrow starts feeling meaningful.

These are not insignificant changes. They are signs that your relationship with life is changing.

Kundalini Must Eventually Become Life

Do not make Kundalini another reason to escape existence. Your awakening must eventually enter your body, work, relationships, sexuality, creativity, contribution, choices, adventures, and purpose.

Kundalini is moving. Dopamine is participating.

The Dark Night is losing its hold, and you are no longer merely surviving your awakening. You are ready to live it.
