What to Do When Kundalini Kriyas Become Painful

September 20, 2026

Background

Guru Sanju explains that when Kundalini kriyas become extremely painful, her primary approach is grounding through direct contact with nature and instinctive living. She connects painful kriyas with holding patterns in the nervous system, restricted diaphragmatic breathing, fight-or-flight and freeze states, contraction of the solar plexus and core, muscular tension, body armor, and attempts to control Kundalini.

She teaches lying on the earth, opening the arms, allowing natural belly breathing, moving spontaneously, touching natural objects, using the five senses, looking into the distance, and spending time in vast natural spaces. She describes this as a way of activating the instinctive and limbic brain and allowing the body to move out of chronic control. She also connects grounding with releasing excess energetic charge into the earth and offers personal Kundalini diagnosis and physical projects for those needing direct guidance.

Ground Yourself When Kriyas Become Painful

When Kundalini kriyas become extremely painful, the right and best way I teach to become pain-free from the kriyas is to ground yourself. Come out into nature and enjoy life. Be on the earth as it is, feel life, and do nothing.

Expose yourself to the ground and to the earth. Lie down on the earth, open your arms, and do nothing. Allow your body to behave naturally.

After some time, you may notice that belly breathing activates naturally. This is important because many of the issues you experience during the Kundalini awakening journey are connected with holding in your nervous system and not breathing properly through the diaphragm.

Release the Hold in Your Nervous System

When your diaphragm does not move well, you remain in fight-or-flight mode. This leads to a hold mode, which leads to holding in the solar plexus and core and contraction throughout your muscular system, nervous system, and energy channels.

This hold can be opened in the most instinctive way: ground yourself in nature. Lie down on the ground and simply experience life as it is.

Touch the Earth and Experience Life

When I am on natural forest land, I experience everything in its natural form. There may be cow dung, leaves, grass, and other natural things around me. I can touch the leaves and grass and use my hands naturally without creating unnecessary resistance toward life.

This is the most powerful way I teach to move from pain toward being pain-free. If you do this continuously, you can become free from the painful experience.

Come into vast open spaces where your body has room to move. You can run, open your arms, turn around, and do what your body wants to do. You can touch natural plants, feel them, and experience the openness around you.

Give Your Body Vast Open Space

Experience the vast sky, the ground, and the horizon of the earth. When you give yourself this openness, I teach that your instinctive brain begins to lose its excessive control over your nervous system.

Fight-or-flight mode is monitored by your instinctive brain, especially when it remains excessively in threat mode. Painful kriyas can happen alongside muscular tension and the armor of the body created through control over your nervous system.

Stop Trying to Control Kundalini

You want to control Kundalini. You want to control the movement of Kundalini awakening within you and the direction in which Kundalini moves.

When you continually control it, your nervous system remains in fight-or-flight and freeze mode under the influence of the primitive brain. The brainstem controls the instinctive part of life, while your prefrontal cortex tries to control the system through overthinking and logically thinking about everything.

There is no logic behind Kundalini. If you do not know about Kundalini, educate yourself and understand what Kundalini is. But there is no logic that can completely explain Kundalini.

Kundalini Wants to Live Life Through You

Kundalini is the life force within you, and she wants to live life through you. I live my life expressively. If I feel like sitting, I sit. If I feel like lying down, I lie down. If I feel like surrendering myself to the earth, I surrender myself to the earth.

I do not control every movement of my body. My brain knows the best state and direction for my body. If I am lying somewhere and there is danger, my brain will take care of it and provide me with a danger signal.

Start Living an Instinctive Life

We are Homo sapiens. We come from the animal world, but we have forgotten this and use only a certain percentage of our instinctive brain to live our lives.

Start living an instinctive life. If you are unable to learn instinctive living, I can teach you through the Kundalini way. The Kundalini way is to become spontaneous in your life.

You do not have to restrict your entire life to city or urban living inside a limited, box-like room. Go into natural places such as:

  • Farms.
  • Jungles.
  • National forests.
  • Nature reserves.
  • Mountains.

The earth is filled with natural places. Find them and begin activating your instinctive brain.

Activate Your Instinctive Brain and Limbic Brain

When your instinctive brain is activated, your limbic brain becomes activated. You become able to feel life through your senses.

Smell wild leaves and notice what happens within you. Your senses become activated, and your body knows whether something feels dangerous or toxic. I trust the brain and body to respond and reject what it understands as harmful.

Make use of your five senses. Look toward distant places. As the focal length of your eyes changes, your brain changes and you feel life differently. Your five senses become active, and I connect this sensory activation with your limbic brain.

Come Out of Freeze Mode

When these different parts of your brain become active, you begin forgetting what freeze mode is. You move away from the fight-or-flight state that I connect with painful kriyas, and you can begin loving the way Kundalini progresses within you.

This is why I emphasize natural experience instead of remaining trapped inside your mind. Let your body experience the earth, space, movement, smell, touch, sight, wind, and the natural environment.

Ground the Extra Charge Into the Earth

When I ground myself deeply, I experience no involuntary movement or kriyas in my body in that moment. I understand kriyas as movements that can help ground extra energetic charge.

Through direct grounding, I understand the earth as absorbing this extra charge. I describe the extra electrons or energetic charge in the body as being discharged through the earthly abundance of negative ions.

There is much more to learn about this process. You have to educate yourself about becoming one with life.

Become One With Life

This oneness with life is what I teach as the way to become free from kriyas and involuntary movements. Instead of continually fighting your body, allow yourself to feel and participate in life.

When kriyas become painful, stop complaining and start living. Ground yourself, open your body, activate your senses, move instinctively, surrender unnecessary control, and experience life as it exists in this moment.

Get Direct Guidance When You Need It

If you want to experience this kind of wild, natural living but are unable to do it on your own, you can join my physical projects for a particular period. When you want a shift in life, you have to invest in your life to shift your Kundalini and come out of freeze mode.

This is what Kundalini is telling you. If you need my personal consultation for your personal diagnosis of Kundalini, you can book an online consultation and work with me directly.
