Yoga and Breathwork

About this category · Where to begin

Practice brings questions as well as experiences. Here I collect my discourses on yoga and breathwork, meditation, conscious breathing, and how people relate to practice during the Kundalini journey.

What you will find here

The articles include questions about meditation making experiences feel worse, returning to meditation after a difficult period, and the role of conscious breathing in my teachings. They explore both the appeal of a practice and the importance of understanding what is happening in your own circumstances. More practice is not automatically the answer to every difficulty.

Where should you begin?

  • If you are learning about practice, start with explanations of breathing and meditation.
  • If meditation feels connected with worsening experiences, begin with that specific discussion.
  • If you are returning after a difficult period, read the discourse on restarting and consider the guidance appropriate to your situation.

Read and reflect

Pay attention to how you feel before, during, and after a practice, and how it affects daily life. Distinguish a teacher’s account of a technique from individualized instruction. If you have symptoms or a health condition, these discourses do not establish that a breathing or meditation practice is suitable for you.
