Kundalini is the burning spiritual energy coiled at the base of your spine, specifically at the root chakra. When it awakens, it begins to rise upward through the spinal channel—cleansing the energy system, clearing blockages across the seven chakras in the physical and subtle bodies.
This awakening is not merely energetic. It is karmic, emotional, and deeply transformative. Kundalini’s upward journey clears karmic residues, dissolves attachments, and purifies long-held desires embedded in each chakra.
Understanding the Root Chakra Phase
The journey begins at the root chakra, which is responsible for the foundational human needs—food, clothing, and shelter. Unless you are completely fulfilled and detached from these survival-based desires, the Kundalini will keep cycling at this level.
If someone has not yet acquired enough resources or fulfilled their basic physical needs across lifetimes, they will remain rooted here. It often takes many incarnations to fully experience and transcend this chakra.
Sacral Chakra: Creation and Sensuality
As Kundalini moves into the sacral chakra, the emphasis shifts to creation—biological reproduction, sensuality, and enjoyment of life. This is where you explore Earth in its beauty, through creativity, passion, and the desire to leave a legacy.
Whether through motherhood or fatherhood, or through artistic and sensual expression, this chakra opens up the desire to experience life richly. Again, this is a phase that may take lifetimes to fully integrate.
Solar Plexus: Power and Ambition
Once Kundalini reaches the solar plexus chakra, you begin to desire accomplishment, ambition, and financial growth. This is where you develop your intellect, refine your skills, and build your professional life.
Most of today’s humanity operates primarily from the root, sacral, and solar plexus chakras. They remain preoccupied with survival, reproduction, and social success. The transition beyond these levels is rare and marks the beginning of deep spiritual transformation.
Breaking the Cycle of Rebirth
People entangled in the lower chakras often repeat the cycle of birth endlessly. Only when a soul becomes completely saturated with these experiences does Kundalini rise beyond.
This upward movement happens at the junction of chakras—from one to the next—each crossing more difficult and transformative than the last.
Heart Chakra: The Shift to Service and Love
When Kundalini moves from the solar plexus to the heart chakra, a profound change begins. You begin to feel the desire to serve humanity, to contribute something meaningful beyond personal gain.
This is where universal love, peace, and compassion begin to radiate. You no longer see people as roles or relations—you see them as souls. You recognize your connection with all of humanity and become open to serving a greater cause.
Those involved in humanitarian efforts or service work are likely traveling this path of the heart chakra. At this level, the journey toward divine union begins.
Emotional Pain and the Higher Awakening
However, reaching the heart chakra is not the end. Many individuals experience emotional suppression, heartbreak, and trauma at this stage. If these emotional wounds are not healed, they become major blockages.
Kundalini, being intelligent and purposeful, pushes these emotions to the surface. You may feel intense emotional pain, abandonment, or grief. This is a sacred phase—a call to heal and transcend.
When these suppressed feelings are faced and released, Kundalini moves higher.
The Higher Chakras: Throat, Third Eye, and Crown
From the heart, Kundalini travels toward the throat chakra, where your soul begins to seek the truth. You want to speak and live authentically.
Then it reaches the third eye, where your inner vision opens. This is where spiritual clarity, intuition, and inner knowing arise.
Finally, the crown chakra—the gateway to Shiva-consciousness. This is where Kundalini becomes one with the Divine. The Shakti (feminine Kundalini force) merges with Shiva (pure consciousness), and duality dissolves.
