Brain Fog During Kundalini Awakening? Do This Detoxification Technique First!

August 28, 2026

Background

Guru Sanju teaches that Kundalini awakening can become an intensely solitary journey because the seeker’s inner world begins changing before the outer world understands that transformation. Old interests may lose their attraction, familiar relationships may feel different, and the person may experience periods of withdrawal, self-criticism, stagnation, or emotional heaviness. According to her teaching, this is precisely when the seeker must learn to consciously participate in the movement of life force rather than becoming passive.

She connects this process with daily achievement, healthy motivation, freedom from compulsive addictions, purified energy channels, conscious breathing, and the reopening of connection with the heart. Her brain detoxification breathing technique combines focused inhalation, complete exhalation, and rhythmic arm movement to bring attention back into the body. Its deeper purpose is simple: to help a person who has become disconnected from life begin feeling, moving, acting, and participating again.

Kundalini Awakening Can Become a Lonely Journey

Kundalini awakening is a lonely journey because ultimately your evolution is happening inside you. People can accompany you, love you, guide you, and support you, but nobody can evolve on your behalf.

There may come a stage when the life you previously lived no longer satisfies you, while the new life has not yet completely emerged. You may feel that you no longer resonate with the madness, competition, conditioning, and unconscious patterns around you.

This is where many seekers become stuck. Instead of using this withdrawal to discover themselves, they begin judging themselves for no longer fitting into their previous world.

Do Not Confuse Withdrawal With Failure

When Kundalini begins changing your priorities, your attention may naturally turn inward. Things that previously gave you identity, excitement, approval, or validation may stop giving you the same satisfaction.

Then the mind begins asking, “What is wrong with me? Why am I not like everyone else? Why am I not achieving what they are achieving?” This comparison can create enormous self-criticism.

You must understand that your inner journey cannot be measured entirely through the standards of the external world.

But Your Kundalini Must Keep Progressing

Withdrawal does not mean that you should stop living. Kundalini awakening is evolution, and evolution requires movement.

If you withdraw from your old life but do not create a more conscious life, you can become stuck between two worlds. You are no longer fully interested in the old patterns, yet you have not begun building the new patterns that allow your life force to express itself.

This is why conscious action becomes extremely important.

Your Brain Needs the Experience of Achievement

Every day, do something fruitful with your life. Give yourself something meaningful to complete, create, learn, organize, improve, or experience.

Your brain’s dopamine system participates in motivation, learning, reward prediction, and goal-directed behavior. Do not reduce dopamine to a simple happiness chemical, but understand the deeper principle: your brain needs meaningful engagement with life.

Give yourself reasons to move toward something.

Create One Achievement Every Day

You do not need to conquer the world every morning. Your achievement can be small, but it should represent movement.

Cook something nourishing. Complete unfinished work. Exercise your body. Learn a skill. Clean your environment. Create something, solve something, or take one courageous action you have been postponing.

At the end of the day, your system should have some evidence that you participated in your own life.

Do Not Wait for Motivation Before You Act

When you feel stuck, you may tell yourself, “When I feel better, I will do something.” I want you to reverse this pattern.

Do something appropriate and achievable, and then observe what happens to your state. Sometimes the feeling of movement comes after movement has already begun.

Action can become the invitation through which life force re-enters your day.

Kundalini Needs Clearer Channels

In my Kundalini framework, the evolutionary movement of life force becomes easier as your energetic system becomes less burdened by unconscious patterns. This is what I mean when I speak about purifying the energy channels.

Purification is not only sitting with closed eyes and imagining energy moving through the nadis. It is also looking directly at the habits through which you repeatedly surrender your consciousness.

Your spiritual practice and your everyday behavior cannot remain separate forever.

Become Free From Compulsive Addictions

When I speak about becoming addiction-free, I am not speaking only about alcohol or drugs. Observe every sensory and psychological dependency through which you compulsively seek stimulation, escape, relief, validation, or temporary pleasure.

Ask yourself what controls you. Ask what you cannot comfortably remain without and what repeatedly takes your attention away from yourself.

The purpose is not to create another reason to judge yourself. The purpose is to reclaim freedom.

Freedom Means You Are No Longer Controlled

You may enjoy something without being enslaved by it. The real question is whether you remain capable of choosing consciously.

If a substance or behavior has become genuinely addictive, do not rely on spiritual willpower alone. Appropriate medical or psychological support may be necessary, particularly where withdrawal or dependency carries health risks.

Spiritual freedom includes having the intelligence to use every form of support that helps you become free.

The First Stage Is to Feel Life Again

I teach a simple breathing and movement practice as an early technique for bringing attention back into the body. I call it a brain detoxification technique within my teaching because seekers often describe feeling clearer, lighter, and more alive afterward.

The word detoxification here describes the experiential sense of release; your liver, kidneys, lungs, digestive system, and other physiological processes perform the body’s actual detoxification. The spiritual purpose of this technique is to interrupt stagnation and bring you back into direct bodily experience.

You are not trying to escape the body. You are coming back into it.

When You Have Forgotten That You Are Alive

One person who practiced this technique told me that afterward he became vividly aware of his heartbeat. He had become so disconnected from his body that simply feeling the heart beating again became a powerful experience of aliveness.

This is what I want you to understand. Your heart may have been beating continuously, yet your attention can become so occupied by thoughts, heaviness, fear, or numbness that you stop experiencing the life already happening inside you.

Sometimes transformation begins by feeling what was always there.

The Ego Can Become an Armour Around Life

I describe chronic psychological contraction as an armour created around the natural movement of life force. You become identified with thoughts, judgments, memories, fears, social conditioning, and the personality you believe you must maintain.

Gradually you stop feeling yourself directly. You experience yourself primarily through the commentary in your head.

The technique I am giving you is an invitation to come underneath that commentary and return to the living body.

Prepare for the Breathing Technique

Stand or sit upright with enough space to move both arms freely. Keep the spine naturally lengthened, the shoulders relaxed, the chest unrestricted, and the abdomen free to move with breathing.

Bring your attention away from unnecessary thinking and toward the sensation of breath. Do not begin aggressively; first establish that you can breathe comfortably and remain aware of what you are doing.

Your purpose is conscious activation, not respiratory strain.

Inhale Through the Nose and Raise Your Arms

Begin by inhaling through the nose while raising both arms upward in a smooth movement. Keep the arms comfortably straight without creating unnecessary tension in the shoulders.

Feel the inhalation rather than performing the movement mechanically. Allow the diaphragm and ribs to participate naturally as the breath enters.

Attention must remain with the experience.

Exhale Through the Mouth and Release

As the arms come downward, exhale through the mouth. Allow the abdomen to move inward naturally as the breath leaves.

Make the exhalation clear and complete without violently forcing the lungs empty. Then allow the next inhalation to arise and raise the arms again.

Continue in a steady rhythm: inhale and rise, exhale and release.

Practice Twenty Conscious Rounds

Begin with approximately twenty comfortable repetitions rather than chasing extreme numbers. Keep your attention connected with the breath, movement, chest, abdomen, and overall bodily state.

If you become dizzy, faint, unusually breathless, distressed, or uncomfortable, stop and return to ordinary breathing. Forceful or excessively rapid breathing can lower carbon dioxide and create tingling, light-headedness, or other sensations that should not automatically be interpreted as Kundalini activation.

Consciousness is more important than intensity.

Become Still After the Final Breath

After completing the rounds, stop moving and allow your breathing to return naturally to its own rhythm. Relax your arms and shoulders and remain quiet for a moment.

Now feel. Notice your heartbeat, chest, abdomen, face, hands, feet, warmth, alertness, emotional state, and the overall sensation of inhabiting your body.

Do not immediately start analyzing the experience.

Feel the Heartbeat That Was Always There

If your heartbeat becomes more noticeable after movement and breathing, place your attention there without fear. Feel the rhythm as direct evidence that your body is alive and continuously working for you.

You do not need to create a mystical story around every heartbeat. The spiritual transformation is in becoming intimate again with life that you had stopped noticing.

Say inwardly, “I am here. I am alive.”

Return From Freeze Into Participation

When I use the language of freeze, I am describing a state in which you may feel shut down, withdrawn, immobilized, numb, or disconnected from action. Breath and movement can become one way of gently interrupting that pattern.

But severe or persistent depression, dissociation, trauma symptoms, or inability to function should not be assumed to be Kundalini alone. Spiritual practice can work alongside appropriate professional care when it is needed.

The purpose is always to restore your capacity to participate in life.

Your Heart Chakra Is the Center of This Return

Within my Kundalini teaching, the heart chakra is profoundly important because it represents the place where your relationship with your own spirit begins expanding beyond survival and egoic contraction. This is where life becomes more than simply existing.

When attention returns to the heart, you begin asking different questions. What do I love? What is meaningful to me? What wants to grow through me?

The journey becomes intimate again.

Kundalini Is Your Own Life Force

Do not imagine Kundalini only as some strange supernatural energy that occasionally produces sensations in your spine. I want you to understand Kundalini as intimately connected with your own living force and evolutionary movement.

She is not separate from the life you are trying to rediscover. When I say Kundalini is thriving within you, I am reminding you that beneath your psychological conditioning there remains an enormous capacity for movement, awareness, love, creativity, courage, and transformation.

Your work is to stop abandoning that life.

Stop Saying You Are Not Enough

During Kundalini awakening, one of the most destructive patterns can be constant self-criticism. You look at the external world and conclude that because your life does not resemble someone else’s definition of success, you are somehow inadequate.

Then the internal voice begins repeating, “You are not enough. You are behind. Something is wrong with you.” If you repeat this language continuously, you become increasingly disconnected from your own path.

Observe whose standards you are using to measure yourself.

The Matrix Gives You Its Definition of Success

Society gives you measurements for achievement, status, possessions, relationships, appearance, career, money, and recognition. These measurements can have practical value, but they cannot completely define the evolutionary purpose of your life.

Kundalini awakening may challenge identities that were constructed primarily to obtain external approval. This can initially feel like loss because the old sources of validation become weaker.

But losing an old identity is not the same as losing yourself.

Loneliness Can Become a Doorway Back to Yourself

When you no longer resonate with certain people or patterns, loneliness may arise. Do not immediately conclude that loneliness means you are spiritually superior to everyone around you.

Use the solitude intelligently. Become intimate with your breath, body, creativity, work, purpose, health, and the quality of your own inner relationship.

Solitude becomes transformational when it returns you to yourself rather than imprisoning you inside your thoughts.

Do Not Lose Your Connection With the World

Kundalini awakening should not become an excuse to abandon every relationship, responsibility, or ordinary human connection. Evolution requires discernment, not indiscriminate isolation.

Find people with whom you can remain authentic and alive. Participate in meaningful work, create something valuable, contribute where you can, and continue developing your capacity to function in the world.

Your spirituality must eventually become capable of living here.

Self-Criticism Blocks the Experience of Life

When you continuously judge yourself, attention remains trapped in the head. You become absorbed in commentary about yourself rather than experiencing yourself.

This is why I bring you back to breath, heartbeat, movement, and conscious action. The body gives you an immediate present-moment reality that exists before the next judgment appears.

Feel first. Then decide what action life requires from you.

Open the Heart Through Participation

I do not want you merely visualizing the heart chakra and waiting for something extraordinary to happen. Bring heart consciousness into your behavior.

Stop attacking yourself. Nourish yourself. Complete something meaningful. Appreciate your effort. Connect with people who support expansion and give yourself opportunities to experience joy.

These actions create conditions in which the qualities of the heart can become lived realities.

Let the Solar Plexus Come Back Into Life

The solar plexus represents another essential dimension of this process in my energetic framework. It is connected with action, will, direction, confidence, and the capacity to move your life.

If the heart tells you what matters but you never act, your transformation remains incomplete. Love requires power to become embodied.

Your heart and your action must begin working together.

Restore Diaphragmatic Movement

Breathing practices can help you become more aware of how the diaphragm, ribs, chest, and abdomen participate in respiration. Rather than holding the belly rigid throughout the day, allow the breathing body to move naturally.

A mobile, comfortable breathing pattern can support relaxation and bodily awareness. Do not force the abdomen dramatically outward or inward simply to prove that you are breathing spiritually.

Natural movement with awareness is enough.

Feel Life Before You Try to Understand Life

Many seekers are trying to intellectually solve Kundalini awakening. They read endlessly, analyze every symptom, classify every sensation, and continuously ask what stage they have reached.

Sometimes I want you to stop interpreting and simply feel yourself. Feel the breath entering. Feel the exhalation leaving. Feel the heart beating and the body standing on the Earth.

Life is already happening before your mind gives it a spiritual name.

Give Your Brain a Fruitful Day

After completing the breathing practice, do not return immediately to passivity. Use the shift in state to take one meaningful action.

Ask yourself, “What can I complete today that will make me respect the way I used this day?” Choose something realistic and do it.

This is how you connect inner awakening with outer evolution.

Your Achievement Must Belong to You

A fruitful day does not necessarily mean earning more money, receiving applause, or defeating somebody else. Achievement can mean doing what your own evolution currently requires.

For one person, achievement may be completing important work. For another, it may be exercising, preparing healthy food, leaving an addiction, learning something new, creating art, or finally taking an action that fear has delayed.

Your achievement should move your life force rather than merely impress the world.

Build Healthy Sources of Reward

If your brain has learned to seek reward mainly through compulsive stimulation, begin giving it healthier experiences of anticipation, effort, completion, pleasure, and satisfaction. Create goals small enough to accomplish but meaningful enough to matter.

Over time, you begin discovering that you can feel good through participation rather than only through escape. You are teaching yourself that life itself can become rewarding again.

This is an important dimension of becoming addiction-free.

Do the Technique, Then Observe the Result

I am always interested in what happens when a student actually implements what I teach. Do not tell me only that you understood the technique intellectually.

Practice it correctly and then observe yourself. Did your breathing change? Did your attention change? Do you feel more present, lighter, clearer, calmer, warmer, or more capable of acting?

Your experience becomes part of your learning.

Do Not Chase Instant Miracles

You may feel an immediate shift from twenty conscious repetitions, and sometimes that first shift is exactly what gives you confidence to continue. But do not convert one powerful experience into the expectation that every physical, emotional, or psychological difficulty will disappear instantly.

Kundalini awakening is an evolutionary journey. Your habits, nervous system, attention, relationships, health, addictions, and patterns of self-judgment may require sustained work.

The technique begins movement; your life must continue it.

Guidance Can Help You Practice Correctly

If you find that you cannot understand the technique, cannot practice comfortably, or repeatedly become confused about what is happening during your Kundalini journey, seek appropriate guidance. A Guru can help you understand the practice, observe your patterns, refine the intensity, and bring greater consciousness to what you are experiencing.

In my work, I teach these techniques directly so that the student does not remain trapped only in spiritual information. I want you to practice, experience, observe, and implement.

The purpose of guidance is to help you become increasingly capable of working consciously with your own life.

You Are Not Dead Inside

If you have reached a stage where everything feels stale, meaningless, frozen, or disconnected, do not immediately conclude that life has disappeared from you. Your present experience is not the totality of what you are capable of becoming.

Bring attention into your body. Breathe consciously. Feel your heart. Move your arms. Stand up and take one fruitful action.

Give life an opportunity to become perceptible again.

Come Back to Life Here and Now

Kundalini awakening is not asking you to wait for some future spiritual event before you begin living. Your awakening is happening through the way you breathe, act, choose, create, release addictions, meet loneliness, and respond to the voice that says you are not enough.

Open the heart and activate your capacity for action. Let consciousness move from your head into your body and from your body into your life.

If you feel dead in your journey, begin with one conscious breath, feel the life already moving within you, and then do something worthy with the day you have been given.
