Background
I am Guru Sanju, and this discourse comes from a live one-to-one session with my student Alisa, who is moving through an intense phase of Kundalini awakening. In this phase, her mind is dissolving, memories are fading, and she feels as if nothing is under her control. She is staying with her parents, who are acting as her caretakers while I guide her energy process.
In this conversation, I teach her how to use laughter, mirror work, instinctive body movements, and simple daily activities to safely pass through the “death of mind” and the birth of a new, childlike consciousness. I show her how to experience herself as pure energy, how to watch thoughts as advertisements that disturb the movie of life, and how to trust that the universe—not the mind—is in charge. What you will read here is the complete teaching, refined for you as a standalone written discourse.
Serious–Smile Mirror Technique: Laughing Yourself Free
Hello. How are you?
Your smiling photo was good enough to make me smile. Keep smiling for some time and see what happens in your inner state. This itself is a technique.
First, I want you to do this:
- Stand or sit comfortably.
- Become completely serious, as if the world has ended for you and there is no hope left.
- Hold that seriousness on your face.
- Then, suddenly start smiling. Let the smile spread. Let laughter come if it wants.
Repeat this: serious… then smile. Do this cycle around ten times.
This is the serious-and-smile technique. Your face muscles will first become stiff and then relax. You do not have to think much. Just become serious, then smile, and see how naturally laughter starts coming. After some time you will not be able to control it. You will simply start laughing.
And if you start laughing, it means something has already healed inside you.
Now I want you to add another layer:
- First, smile and laugh freely.
- Then, try not to smile. Try to control your smile.
- Become serious again… and try to stop your laughter.
You will see: the more you try not to smile, the more laughter will burst out. This “trying not to smile” is also a part of the healing. It shows you that your natural state is joy, not heaviness.
Do this practice in front of a mirror. Stand close enough to see your whole face.
- Look straight into your own eyes in the mirror.
- Become totally serious. Like a statue. No expression.
- Now let the smile come, but keep telling yourself, “Don’t smile, don’t smile, statue, statue.”
- Watch how the smile breaks through anyway and laughter erupts.
Allow any sounds to come out of your mouth—“ha ha ha,” “doo doo doo,” anything. This is energy releasing. Continue until your belly starts aching from laughter.
If you practice this seriously in a playful way, in 24 hours you will feel like a different person. You will see how much you have taken yourself too seriously, how much you have taken your mind too seriously.
At least four times a day, do this technique for around five minutes. And all through the day, while working in the kitchen, washing dishes, or doing any activity, suddenly remember it:
- Become serious for a moment.
- Then let the laughter rise and move through you.
There is no rule that you cannot do this while working. In fact, practicing it during activities is very powerful. Throughout the day, keep bringing this technique in. You will see that this one technique alone begins to change you.
You Are Pure Energy, Not Your Mind
All the realizations that are coming to you now are real. They show that you are moving forward.
Understand this clearly: the mind cannot understand energy. So a kind of fight is going on. The mind is like a villain who knows it is going to lose. When a villain is dying, what does it do? It resists. It throws reasons from here and there. It creates confusion, fear, doubt. This is exactly what your mind is doing right now.
Whatever your mind thinks about anything is basically nonsense. The deeper reality is that you are a pure energy field. You, as you think you exist, do not really exist.
Nothing exists in the way the mind imagines. Everything is energy. Only because of perception we understand things in a certain way to be able to live. But beyond that perception there is an absolute reality: nothing truly exists as separate.
Look at the ant world. Go into the world of ants. They do not know whether you exist or not. They do not even know whether they exist or not. They have no mind like you. They are pure energy driven by nature.
Go to the animal world, the world of birds, the world of different creatures. Every species has its own world. They are born by the universe and they die by the universe. This means the universe decides who will live, for how long.
Your true “you” is the universe itself working.
The life that you are living right now is not given by your mind. It cannot be thought, it cannot be created by thought. You cannot be born until and unless the universe has some plan for you.
You got confused by spiritual writings, teachings, and all kinds of information from your past journey. So now you need to drop everything. Unlearn everything. Go only by direct experience.
Drinking Water as a Doorway to Truth
Let us come to a simple experiment with water.
If you have water in front of you now, take your glass. Drink water and fill your mouth and throat completely. Then pause and notice:
- What did you feel while drinking the water?
- What is your experience?
You will observe that your body is like a vessel or an instrument into which water is going. You experience the coolness of the water moving through you. But see the subtle shift: it is not “you are drinking water.” Rather, water is getting drunk by you.
Try again. Drink slowly and observe:
- Water is being poured into a container.
- You are simply aware of it.
Apart from the coolness and the movement, you do not feel much. You are just aware that water is going inside somewhere. It is traveling along a path. There is a vessel, there are pipes, there is internal space. You are pouring water into this space.
This physical body is like a sponge. When you drop a sponge into water, it soaks the water. When you squeeze it, the water flows out again. The sponge has space inside it that allows things to pass through.
Likewise, your body is an energy field with space in it. All kinds of energies are constantly being exchanged through this field.
Because the body is a bit condensed, the skin stops some things from entering. Its structure is such that external substances cannot easily go in, but internal fluids like sweat can come out. Sweat glands, especially under the arms and in certain areas, release water from inside.
Yet if you really observe your whole physical body in intense activity, you will see that sweat can come from the facial skin, from all over. This shows that there is continuous exchange.
So your body is like that sponge—energy moves, water moves, life moves.
Mind as Dense Energy and the Shift to Feeling
What is your mind? Your mind is simply dense energy with certain properties, qualities, and traits. If the mind-energy becomes too dense and compact, your toxicity does not get released. It keeps forming thoughts, and you identify with those thoughts. You then live your life inside this thinking, thinking, thinking about everything.
Now your life is shifting from thinking-mind to feeling-energy.
You are feeling yourself more and more. And when you feel yourself, you may feel… nothing. This “nothing” is closer to reality than the stories of the mind.
When you are fully established in this nothingness—this spacious, aware energy—you are free. You are enlightened. The journey is simply to become stable in this reality.
Whatever time it takes to establish in this, that should be your dedication: No matter how long it takes, I am committed to feeling my true existence.
Brain, Nervous System, and Integrating the Energy
Now, about your brain and nervous system, you feel they are not working properly. I want you to know: this happens to everybody who is genuinely becoming free. It happened to me. It happens to all who go through this transition.
The question is: how do you integrate your energy into the brain and the nervous system so that you can function in daily life while being free?
This is why you have come to me. I know how to integrate this energy so that even when you are blank inside, you are still integrated and functional.
First, you must be free. That is what is happening now. Everything is dissolving, you are forgetting many things, nothing seems under control. You are lucky that you are at your parents’ house. They can take care of you. They can provide assistance while you are in this rebirth.
When you are free and integrated, you will become powerful and confident in your body. You will be able to take care of anyone, not just your parents.
If you pass through this phase properly and become fully independent, then you will be truly useful to other people. Otherwise, there is no real use of this mind and ego that wants life in a particular way.
Last Birth, Karma, and New Birth as a Child
This is not your first birth. It is your last. So the universe will bring suffering to clear all the bad karmas you have created so far.
After all this suffering, you are now healing. While healing, you will forget many things. You will feel, I am born in this very moment.
A child does not remember anything. The child needs assistance from others for everything. Similarly, you are taking a new birth. You need the assistance of other people. You need the assistance of the Guru. You need caretakers.
Right now, your parents are your caretakers. You are fortunate. Many people in this phase need someone to take care of them. Those who are lucky have such support. You should feel grateful:
- Guru is with me.
- My parents are with me.
- I do not need anyone else right now.
You have to pass through this phase. After this, all the garbage of the past will go. The entire mind-identity you thought was “you” will dissolve. You will take a new birth and start life in a new way, like a new child.
This new child will learn its lessons in its own way. You do not have to carry anything forward from the past.
You do not have to love music just because the past you loved music. You may develop new interests. Maybe towards exploring nature, traveling, or playing an instrument like the guitar. Completely new interests can arise.
When the child is born, it does not remember its past lives. In one birth, you may have been a king. In another, a criminal. You do not carry those memories here. Likewise, after this phase you will not remember whether you had a glamorous past or a painful one. Everything will be new.
Blessed are those who go through this phase. They must relearn everything: how to speak, how to use their body, even language. That is the level of freedom.
It takes time for people to learn all these things again. Because I know you are going to pass through this, I have already introduced you to instinctive activities. If you do these, you will never be lost.
Instinctive Activities to Keep You Safe
Instinctive activities are those basic life actions that keep your brain and nervous system feeling safe and grounded:
- Cleaning your space
- Cooking your meals
- Washing dishes
- Washing clothes
- Basic household tasks
If you are able to do these fundamental activities, you will remain safe. You will not get lost even if your memory feels blank.
For most of the time, your memory may be empty. You may not recall many things, and that is okay. You will be mostly in the present. In the present, there is no past and no future. Without past and future, there is no thought.
If memory is lost, then thoughts do not come. Life becomes simple:
Chop wood, carry water.
Chop wood, carry water.
Chop wood, carry water.
Simple life. This is what the universe wants for you. No carry-forward of pain and suffering from the past. No carry-forward of glamorous stories either. Good and bad, both will go.
You will become very normal in the present. You will smile, laugh, and live like a child.
Observe a small child. Watch some videos of babies. See how they behave:
- They are always in the present.
- Always curious, full of wonder.
- They can play with one toy for an hour, then get bored and want another.
- They laugh loudly, then cry, then laugh again.
This will happen to you. Be ready, but watch yourself as that child. The way a child takes around two years to learn the fundamentals of life, you also will go through a similar inner training.
Forgetting Everything and Being Reborn
A phase will come when you forget almost everything:
- You may forget how to write.
- You may ask, “What should I write?”
- You may forget your own name.
All this is going to happen. Be ready.
I laugh as I tell you this because it is the truth. I have gone through this myself. My students have gone through it. And once it is over, everything becomes brighter.
Many of my students later tell me, “It is good that I went through that phase. I was stuck in one identity, one job, doing the same thing for 35 years. After freedom, I can choose life in a completely different way. Each day is a new day.”
When the mind is not there, energetic changes are happening all the time. Something is always shifting. So every moment you have to come back to the body and then see, What is needed now?
I have techniques for this. When they apply the techniques, they immediately come back to the body.
Energy Transmission and Conscious Writing
You do not have to write anything right now. This is not about making notes. This is an energy transmission. I am changing your DNA.
Later you will remember what you need to remember, but not in a compulsive pattern. You will choose to write. Writing will not happen from the old mind-pattern. Even speaking a single sentence will become conscious.
You will not want to speak unnecessarily. You will not want to blabber. You will not want to vomit out your mental garbage and old stories. You will catch yourself thinking, Why did I even speak that one sentence? Was it needed?
Let me give you an example.
I ask you: “Are you hungry?”
The conscious, complete answer is simply: “No.”
But when you are unconscious, what may come is: “No, I’m not hungry. Usually I eat three times a day, sometimes four. But I’m always eating this kind of junk food…”
Who asked for all that? That extra story is coming from your mind. It is not needed.
So you will learn to speak consciously, not to add drama to your life.
Ending the Drama: Space Between Activities
The mind adds drama. That drama is now ending.
You will start noticing that between any two activities there is a space. In that space, there is peace. The mind does not like this space. It is used to playing drama all the time.
Think of watching a movie on YouTube without paying for premium. After each scene, an advertisement comes in. The essence of the movie is disturbed. If you pay for premium, the ads stop. Then you enjoy the movie fully.
Becoming conscious is like paying premium for your life.
You are investing your time, money, and energy into stopping the unwanted advertisements of the mind.
You are watching the movie of your life—cooking, eating, taking care of your health, living in peace. Between activities there is a natural space meant for rest, awareness, and simply looking at the nature around you. This is life.
But what happens when the mind is active?
Ads start playing: “What about your job? What about your future? What about your partner? What about marriage? What will happen to you?”
These are like random ads disturbing your movie.
The Mind as Advertiser: Why Sadhana Is Your Premium
Imagine you are watching a movie of your choice, and suddenly an advertisement appears for a men’s underwear brand or a sports car. You are not interested. You were watching the movie for your own personal reason—maybe to relax, maybe to learn something. That ad does not serve you. It disturbs your flow.
Likewise, your life is your chosen movie. You are living your simple activities: cooking meals, eating, taking care of your health. You are at peace. Between two actions there is space.
Instead of letting you rest, the mind plays an ad: “What about your job? What about your life? What about your partner? What about your marriage? What will happen to you?”
Nobody asked for those ads.
With this current phase of your sadhana, these ads will stop. The practices you are doing are to stop this constant mind-chatter, this advertisement playing between every scene of your life.
When the mind is not there, there is no distraction, no disturbance. You may remember your own childhood when there was not much mind. You used to enjoy moving from one activity to another naturally.
Bread, butter, food, clothing, shelter—the universe will take care of these. Everyone has karmic connections. Your parents are connected to you through karma. They will take care of you until you are fully integrated.
When their role in your life is over, you will feel everything happening smoothly. You will not have to push anything.
Life After Integration and the Call to Explore
After integration, there is a possibility that you will leave your current city. You may go out, explore, and discover yourself further.
Maybe you will go for a solo trip. You will explore who you are more and more. After that, you may receive an opportunity to do something in a completely different direction. You will discover all this only after this recovery period.
Right now, you are doing great. Your energy is settling. The mind-ads are slowing down. You simply have to “pay premium,” which means: continue your sadhana.
The serious-smile mirror practice, the awareness exercises, the instinctive activities—these are your premium subscription. They keep the mind away.
In the next 30 days, you will receive many realizations. Keep writing them down. Whatever realization comes, write it. These realizations will create the new you.
Staying Close to the Guru
This phase cannot be crossed without the Guru. I am telling you directly: without me, it is not possible for you to move through this safely.
So keep the Guru by your side. Do not make the mistake of letting the Guru go away.
What is that mistake? Entertaining the mind. If you enter too much into the mind, the Guru will feel distant to you. If you do not entertain the mind, the Guru will feel very close and will keep working on you.
I have extreme powers to give you energy transmissions, and I will use them at the right time. Right now, your main practices are the mirror practice and the serious–smile technique.
Monkey Walk to Free the Lower Chakras
Now I will give you another powerful, playful technique.
We have evolved from monkeys. We are nothing but modern monkeys. The evolution is from the monkey. So do not give too much importance to yourself. Use this fact to break your seriousness.
Stand in front of a mirror and perform like a monkey. Let your body move in a funny, instinctive way. Then:
- Come down into a deep squat (like the yoga pose malasana—a deep sitting squat).
- From this squat, start walking like a monkey across the floor.
- Use your hands and feet. Playfully imitate a monkey’s movements.
- Allow yourself to laugh as you do it.
This activity releases stuck energy from the lower chakras. When you find yourself laughing during this, it means energy that was stuck in the lower part of your body is being released.
You will feel free. You will feel the energy shifting. You will experience that you are not meant to take yourself so seriously.
Decluttering as Energetic Clearing
Continue with decluttering your physical space. After this session, I will guide you more specifically on how to do it, but the basic idea is simple:
- Every day, throw away or give away around five to ten objects that you no longer need.
This will make it easier for you to declutter. Removing old physical objects supports the removal of old mental patterns and energetic residues.
Closing Guidance
For now, your main practices are:
- The serious–smile mirror technique, many times a day.
- Laughing freely and then trying not to smile, to see how joy breaks through.
- Monkey walking in a deep squat to release lower chakra energy.
- Instinctive activities like cooking, cleaning, washing, to keep you safe and grounded.
- Writing down every realization for the next 30 days, to allow the new you to take shape.
- Decluttering a few objects every day, to clear stagnant energy.
I will meet you again after two or three days. Until then, keep practicing like this.
Keep laughing, keep playing, keep watching the ads of the mind disappear. Keep remembering: you are pure energy. The universe is living through you.
