Be the Light, Not the Shadow -Consciousness Vs Ego – Subject-Object Discrimination (Experiential)

Guru Sanju

Today, I want to share with you a powerful inner technique—two-pointed focus. This practice will help you understand the difference between the object and the subject—between the mind (including ego, memory, and thought patterns) and the deeper consciousness that simply observes.

To begin, imagine a flower. That flower is an object. Similarly, your mind, your memories, your tendencies—these are also objects. Now, bring your awareness inward and ask: Who is observing this object? The answer is—you. You are the subject, the perceiver.

You, as pure consciousness, use the brain and nervous system as instruments. Through your five senses, you interact with the world of forms. But don’t forget—you yourself are formless. What you see is constantly changing and tangible; what you are is eternal and intangible.

When you go out into nature—watching a stream flow gently or the sun shine brightly—you are not just seeing. You are perceiving. That perception arises only because you are present. If your consciousness were absent, there would be no experience at all.

This is why spending time in nature is so important, especially when you’re feeling low or lost. Nature doesn’t demand anything from you. It simply is. And in that stillness, in that effortless flow, you can rediscover who you are.

The sun shines with its own light—just like your consciousness. It does not need to be lit by anything else. Similarly, your awareness is not borrowed or manufactured; it is innate. This is not theoretical knowledge. It is an experience—and nature is the perfect setting to have it.

When we are enclosed in rooms, surrounded by noise and constant mental chatter, our thoughts are limited. But nature is rich in prana—life energy. It nourishes your system. It fills your being with vitality. And in that moment, you might recognize: your ego, your mind, your image—they are mere shadows. You, the real you, are the source of light that casts them.

The world outside may be chaotic, noisy, and filled with distractions. But there’s only one way to truly transcend this noise: by living in the present, being honest with yourself, and refusing to get fooled by the limited identities and roles the mind clings to.

When you are alone in nature, doing nothing, just being—you begin to return to your essence. Feel the elements: the earth under your feet, the wind brushing against your skin, the sound of birds, the smell of flowers, the endless sky above. These are not separate from you. You are the subject—the silent witness behind every perception. Everything else is object.

And here lies a deep truth: the moment you identify with any form, suffering begins. Your true nature is formless. When you remember this, suffering dissolves. You are not your thoughts, your emotions, your roles, or even your body. You are the perceiver of all these.

The mind is a bundle of unconscious patterns—fear, anger, guilt, shame, confusion. It spins illusions. And you have been caught in its web, lifetime after lifetime, identifying with one character after another in the drama of existence.

But you are not the character. You are the actor—limitless and free.

Freedom is knowing that you are not rooted like a tree, fixed in a single identity. You are like the wind—moving, invisible, yet deeply alive. You are the sun that shines, not the objects it illuminates. You are the cosmic electricity, the universal energy that powers all of life.

This is what Kundalini awakening truly points toward—not just mystical experiences, but freedom from form. Your inner energy wants to rise to meet the universal consciousness at the crown. But it can only do so if you release the resistances, the identifications, and the blockages that confine you.

The Kundalini within you wants to flow like the wind, like the stream, like the breath of nature. It calls you to remember your true self—your nothingness, your purity, your beingness.

If you’ve ever watched a dog wander freely or a bird take flight without care, you’ve seen what natural freedom looks like. You, too, can live that way—not bound by roles, responsibilities, or societal images, but rooted in truth.

Let go of your attachments. Let go of the matrix—the conditioned reality that convinces you to chase, to prove, to perform. You are not your job, your possessions, or your status. You are not even your name.

You are pure consciousness. And when you live from that awareness, nature welcomes you home.

Transform. Emerge. Become the phoenix. Rise from the ashes of limitation into the vastness of your being. Be honest. Be still. Be free.

And most importantly—be the subject, not the shadow.
