Understanding Spiritual Fatigue
Spiritual fatigue. It is not just tiredness of the body—it is an exhaustion that lives in your soul, in your cells, in your energy field. If you are walking the path of spiritual awakening or Kundalini awakening, you may have experienced this: you wake up in the morning, and instead of freshness, you feel drained. Your body aches, your neck is stiff, your head feels heavy, and you lack the will to even rise from the bed. The energy to begin the day simply isn’t there.
Why does this happen? What causes such deep energetic depletion?
One of the primary reasons is Kundalini energy herself. She is the divine, universal, electrified lightning—constantly working on you, especially during sleep. Throughout the night, she burns through old patterns, karmas, blocks—and this intense combustion releases Apana, the toxic waste energy. Like smoke after fire, this Apana fills your energetic field, leaving you heavy, lethargic, and tamasik. It is this tamas that makes your body feel like a log of wood. Sometimes, you may even feel as though there’s no life energy in your hands.
This is spiritual fatigue.
Why the Brain Must Awaken First
Before you can clear your chakras or unblock your energy channels, one thing is essential: your brain must come alive. Who will work on your system if the brain itself is still foggy and unresponsive?
That’s why I’m giving you, right here, the step-by-step tools I personally use—techniques that have also transformed my students. Set aside one hour each morning after sleep, and practice these techniques. You can increase the duration of any technique depending on how much time or need you feel.
Let’s begin.
Technique 1: External Kumbhak – Breath Retention After Exhalation
As soon as you become aware that sleep is over and you’re transitioning into wakefulness, begin with external Kumbhak.
- Lie still and place one hand on your belly and the other on your chest.
- Inhale slowly, inflating only your belly—your chest should not rise.
- Exhale fully, emptying your lungs completely.
- Hold your breath after exhalation for 5–10 seconds or longer, depending on your capacity.
Repeat this for 10 rounds.
This clears brain fog. Your brain will begin to feel alive and integrated with your body. You will feel present. This is the first key.
Technique 2: Palming – Reconnecting to Sight and Presence
Now that your brain is alive, let’s reconnect your senses, particularly your vision.
- Form light fists with both hands.
- Place the knuckle-side of each fist under your cheekbones, right beneath the eyes.
- Press gently so that the palms also cover the forehead. You are forming a soft cocoon over your face.
Now begin belly breathing:
- Inhale gently, feeling the belly expand.
- Exhale slowly, allowing the belly to return.
Continue this rhythm for 20 breaths or up to 2 minutes.
Then gently open your eyes and move your vision—look around your room. Up, down, side to side, diagonally. Let your brain register the space around you. Tell your system: I am here. I am in this room. I am in this body.
Technique 3: Tapping the Face and Head
Next, activate the energy points on your face and scalp.
- Form a cupped hand and begin tapping your cheeks, forehead, temples, around the eyes, eyebrows, and jawline.
- Use all your fingers to press and massage your eye sockets.
- Press the two depression points on either side of your face (near the ears).
- Use both hands to tap behind your ears, the back of your head, and the top of your skull.
This increases blood circulation, clears energetic blocks, and awakens your nervous system. Do this for a few minutes until you feel your head regaining vitality.
Technique 4: Modified Child’s Pose in Bed
Because spiritual fatigue makes it hard to even stand, begin this pose while still on your bed.
- Sit in Vajrasana (knees folded under you).
- Slowly lower your forehead toward the mattress and extend your arms forward in Child’s Pose.
- If needed, try alternate versions:
- Arms extended forward.
- Arms placed beside your body.
- Head resting on a pillow.
Stay in this posture for 10–15 minutes. Let gravity soothe your nervous system. Let the Earth element cradle you.
Technique 5: Long Exhalation with Movement
Even if you still feel weak, begin gentle movement combined with long exhalations.
- While sitting on your bed, start folding your blanket with awareness.
- As you move, focus on exhaling slowly—prolong your exhalation as you move each part of your body.
- Get up gradually and begin doing small chores like folding a pillow, placing it aside, etc., all accompanied by long breaths out.
Why is this important?
Long exhalation activates the parasympathetic nervous system, calms the heart, and begins the body’s energy production process. It signals your cells to wake up and circulate prana.
Technique 6: Seated Body Tapping
Now that some energy has returned, sit up and begin full body tapping.
- Start with your legs—tap the thighs, knees, calves, and feet.
- Then the torso—tap your abdomen, ribs, back, and chest.
- Now the arms—tap one arm with the other, then switch.
- Lastly, tap your head and neck region gently.
Throughout the tapping, continue long exhalation breathing to increase the metabolic fire.
This brings heat, blood flow, and oxygen into the tissues. You may even start to sweat, which means your body has begun to reawaken.
Technique 7: Standing Full Body Tapping
Once you’re able to stand, proceed to standing full body tapping:
- Divide the body into three zones: head, torso, and lower limbs.
- Use cupped hands to tap each area thoroughly:
- Tap the skull, neck, shoulders.
- Tap the chest, abdomen, ribs, and back.
- Tap thighs, knees, calves, and soles.
Do this continuously for at least 30 minutes if possible.
This raises your energy in a profound way, igniting the fire within and releasing stuck tamas. It wakes up your cells, unblocks your nadis, and fills you with vitality.
Final Reminder: Hydrate and Continue the Day
Once you’ve completed all six or seven techniques, drink plenty of water. You may also sip tea to support further detoxification and warmth.
This is how I begin my mornings after intense energy downloads. My fatigue dissolves. So will yours.
If you are already my student, you know the power of these techniques. If you are not yet part of this energetic transformation, I welcome you. Join the project. Walk with me on this journey. Be free from spiritual fatigue and live life, the Guru style.
