Health and Happiness Is Your Personal Goal, Not a Social Goal
Think about it. Health and happiness are such deeply individual goals that you have to consistently work on your health in order to make yourself healthy. And this itself is such a big challenge in today’s world, because whatever is given to you by the social setup or by the world in general is not designed to make you healthy. It is designed to make you unhealthy.
How the World Makes You Unhealthy
How does this happen?
Take a simple example. You step out of your home and go to the marketplace. There you get access to each and every desire of yours. Not only that — there are many desires that are not originally yours at all, but are created in you by the display made in the shops, the markets, the shopping malls, and in the world as a whole.
Just go around any city, any town, or even any village. If you step outside, you will see that someone is always selling something or the other in display mode. And when you keep seeing so much matter outside, the soul in you starts dying, while the mind in you becomes active.
Then the mind starts wanting more and more of those displayed things.
In truth, you only need food, clothing, shelter, and your personal space to live a happy life. But when your mind becomes too attracted toward accumulation, then there is no end to it.
The Endless Desire Trap
You have one small studio to stay in, and then you want a bigger one-bedroom place. When you get one bedroom, you want a two-bedroom place. Then a three-bedroom. And there is no end to it.
When that is still not enough, you want a bigger property, a bigger home, maybe a resort for yourself, maybe even a palace.
This is the endless movement of desire.
And this endless desire makes you unhappy all the time.
You are constantly made to feel that you are not enough. This feeling is imposed by societal conditioning, and the energy of the world is structured in that way.
You Are Made to Feel You Are Not Enough
Whatever you do in the world, you are expected to give your best. Whether you are an athlete, a professional, an actor, an artist, a creator, a businessman, an entrepreneur, or a freelancer — in every field, you are made to believe by people, by the matrix, by society, and by the world in general that you are still not enough.
This constant message — that you are not enough — creates unhappiness.
A background unhappiness gets established in your existence.
And this background unhappiness makes you unhealthy, stressed all the time.
There is no time to introspect. There is no time to ask how your life is going, where you are heading, in which direction you should go. There is no creativity in your life. There is no time to pause and sit silently for some time — to think about your life, or even to forget about your life.
You do not even know what your life is.
You are becoming unhealthy day by day — not only physically, but mentally and psychologically, to such an extent that it starts feeling irreversible.
The Disease of Feeling Unhealthy
This means there is no visible recovery from this disease of feeling unhealthy.
If you go deeper into the concept of depression, this unhealthy feeling can become what is called melancholy depression.
Melancholy depression is a state in which, whatever you do in the external world, nothing feels complete to you. Nothing feels fulfilling.
This means you are incomplete inside.
A Real Case of Melancholy Depression
I solved such a case a few years ago. That person was a safari guide. He used to work in a national forest. Suddenly one day, when he woke up from sleep, he was stuck in melancholy depression.
For seven months, he was in an almost paralyzed condition.
By “almost paralyzed,” I do not mean natural paralysis in the neurological sense. It had nothing to do with physical nervous system damage or simple freeze mode alone. It was more to do with the energy he was dealing with inside himself.
When I solved his case, I came to know that energetically he was deeply unhappy because he had dreamt since childhood of building a house for himself, and he felt he would never be able to complete that dream.
In a way, he was not able to release his dopamine. Dopamine is one of the hormones that makes you feel happiness and forward movement. Since he was not able to release his real dopamine, his nervous system and brain interpreted that as freeze mode.
How the Freeze Mode Broke
When I worked on him, I made him walk. Before that, he was unable to walk properly without support.
But when I worked on him, in just thirty minutes he came out of his freeze mode. He walked like a normal person, and he became free from melancholy depression because now there was hope again — hope connected to working on his dream.
Why the Dream Factor Matters
Now why is this dream factor important when we are talking about health and happiness?
You need to know that, yes, it is possible that as a human being you are born with some hope about something, some dream about something. It may not be the mind’s dream. It may be the soul’s dream — the soul’s desire to feel the sense of achievement in doing something with one’s own hands.
In his case, it was the dream of building a house with his own effort.
When I guided him, I told him that he could begin by building a small temple in his home with his own hands — where his physical, energetic, and mental energy would be involved.
That made him very happy, and he took the initiative.
Within the next thirty days, he started building a small temple in his house. By then, he had already understood that it was not so important for him to build the full house right now, because he was happy anyway. But the stuck energy of “I must build the house” had transmuted into “I can build something sacred now.”
And with that came the hope that everything would be all right.
The very next morning after meeting me, he went back to his jeep safari work.
Where Are You Stuck in Your Unhappiness Journey?
This entire case is for you to understand where you are stuck in your unhappiness journey.
This means there are micro-level activities that you can do to free yourself from melancholy depression, from this unhealthy state.
You are stressed all the time in the background.
Just ask yourself: what do I want to do in this moment?
If you want to cook something, cook. If you want to get out, get out. If you want to go for a walk, go for a walk. If you want to love someone, love someone.
There are so many activities in which you can involve yourself to become free from melancholy depression and the unhealthy state.
You can become happy here and now.
When You Cannot Do Anything, Come Back to Breath
If you cannot do anything, then apply this simple technique: focus on your breath.
If you can focus on your breath with full presence, then you will feel that life is here and now. Happiness is here and now. Health is here and now.
You cannot control the mind because the mind keeps taking away all the energy from your breath. Mind steals the energy from the breath and becomes more active because of the law of attention:
Where attention goes, energy flows, and it grows.
When you pay too much attention to your mind, your mind becomes bigger day by day. It creates a personality and an internal world.
Most of you who are going through melancholy depression have that internal world, and later this melancholy depression leads to hopelessness — to the extent that you want to commit suicide.
Many have committed suicide in this stage of melancholy depression because they had no hope left for living life. Their mind had made one particular act or one particular achievement the only reason to live. And when they could not do that thing, they felt there was no meaning in life.
There Is No Meaning in Life
So let me tell you something directly: there is no meaning in life.
Life is absolutely meaningless.
You give meaning to the life that you live by participating in it every moment.
If your physical body, if your brain, if your nervous system are not in a healthy condition, then you will not be able to feel life. All your five senses should be in the best condition in order to feel life.
That is why I work on your brain, nervous system, physical health, mental health, and energetic health.
When you can take pleasure here and now, then you are happy.
